Return to Quincy Student Docent Program

This fall, I’m delighted to return to the Student Docent Program with the City of Quincy Public Schools as the museum consultant for the training process. After a successful pilot program in the spring, Bob Damon, Quincy’s Director of Heritage & Historic Resources, decided in concert with the history teachers that we’d offer the program in the fall, which better aligns with the students’ schedules and curriculum. Over the course of three training days, I’ll be teaching the fundamentals of museum education and interpretation and public history 101. Bob and I are thrilled to expand upon the pilot program we built in the spring, and he has some new guest speakers lined up for this year as well.

The most exciting change to this school year’s program is that we’ll be holding these training sessions at historic sites in Quincy, so we’ll be able to focus on place-based learning and utilize the collections of the sites!

I look forward to returning to work with these bright students, especially after a 5-month hiatus!
