Kick-off Workshop for NMA Annual Conference
Last fall, I was invited to lead the kick-off workshop for the Nebraska Museums Association conference in early April. At the time, the NMA team didn’t know if the conference would be held virtually or in-person, and so for months, we’ve been waiting to see how the COVID variants progress. I’m delighted that I’ll be flying to Nebraska in just over three weeks to lead a 3-hour workshop on inquiry-based facilitation IN PERSON. This trip will be my first time to Nebraska, and I’m beyond excited!
With a focus on education for this year’s conference, I’ll be presenting to museum professionals from all over the state of Nebraska, and together we’ll examine facilitation basics (including Visual Thinking Strategies), uncover the benefit of question-based facilitated tours, determine how to insert meaningful questions into visitor interactions, practice improvisation, and do some small-group work.
Take a look at the conference website with info on the keynote speaker and the workshop facilitator (me!). This is my first travel gig, presenting my absolute FAVORITE topic in museum education, and I look forward to experiencing new museums and meeting new people in a new state.
